This book looked like a lot of fun for my son, who loves Daniel Tiger. The book is a little too advanced for him right now, so we'll keep it for him to grow into. It is very nicely made and very sturdy.

I got this for my niece and nephew that are both 1 for Christmas and they love it.

Both my kids love Daniel. This is a cute one with several ways to interact with your child.

It was her favorite present.

I did not purchase this book on Amazon. My 3-year-old daughter picked this up in a shop ($2 cheaper than the Amazon price) so I bought it and it is proving to be a great purchase. I can say that this is my daughter's favorite book currently - she brings it to me many times a day and we spend a good 10-15 mins each time "reading" it. Now, the recommended age is 3-6 years old and I can see why. There are questions in there that I think require an older child to understand and answer, but a 3-year old can do the naming/matching games, which is what my daughter does. We especially like the pull-out tabs that facilitate the matching but then I always extend the matching for other objects on the page so she can spend time finding those. My daughter is a huge Daniel Tiger fan so no wonder this book is such a big hit. The book quality is also great, I'm happy satisfied with how sturdy it is.

Fun book with pullouts. My grandson loves Daniel's Neighborhood.

Plus, the book describes how to install PHP, phpLDAPadmin, phpMyadmin, a DHCP client, and more.Oh, and in those jam-packed 256 pages, Mr. Hong managed to include a section on how to use, maintain, and upgrade ports!Each chapter is helpfully tagged with a level rating which identifies how much "effort" is required to install the app/service. Level 1 apps are the easiest. I have every book on FreeBSD on the market. But somehow I was never able to get a fully functional FreeBSD server running rock solid.This book got me there! It tells me precisely what parts (ports or packages) I need to create a particular type of server (mail, internet, etc.), where to find them, how to install and configure, all in short, concise instructions. And it all worked! It's really a great little book. I hope the author comes by and checks out reviews of his book so I can tell him here how much I appreciate his taking the time to publish his "notes."

Today's servers utilize so many different technologies (HTTP, SQL, SSH, SSL, FTP, DNS, Mail) that just gathering the information to set up server with average features is a big task - especially if it is not your real job. It is pretty simple to find information on setting up a particular package, but not easy to get information to make it all work together.This book takes a very clear flowchart approach and tells you what to install and in what order. If you want a web server, a mail server, a file server, or some variant, this book will help you to build it.I know that seasoned system administrators frown on the scripted "type this and then this" approach to setting up a server but you have to start somewhere. This book will help you to set up a full fledged working and relatively secure server. From there if you want to learn more about a particular technology, great go right ahead and delve in deeper (with another more specific book.) You will after following the instructions in this book have a great platform to configure and expand.I have read several other books on different variants of BSD and this one really pulled it all together.

Having this book is like having a good friend who is a FreeBSD Internet Server guru by your side. This book shows you how to do what you want to do and gives you just enough background info so that you feel confident in what you have done. To search out the specific info in this book on your own would take weeks of frustration and sifting through hundreds if not thousands of pages of confusing manuals and articles.I only wish this author would make another book and include even more how-to's such as Nagios, Cacti, Zenoss, SNMP, Single Sign On, and other common tools that FreeBSD Internet Server Administrators use when setting up an environment.

A good quick reference, and ties in well with the topics presented in Absolute FreeBSD (2nd ed) by M Lucas. But Lucas has a much better writing style, and gets across his technical info in a better way, by explaining why things work the way they do.Building a Server with FreeBSD 7 is kind of the quick and dirty, do this, do this, done. And although it has helped me set up FreeBSD on my first try as a competent server, I'm still trying to find out why the book tells you to do certain things and how components work together. With the info from Lucas in his books, you know how things work together and why you're instructed to do certain things.

It's a long text that goes into great detail about some of our most important issues. However, the people talking about the book's 5 sections not "flowing" or being related to each other, overlook that Yergin wrote the book with the intent that each section need not be read in order. However, if you give this book your complete attention and commit to reading it carefully, you will be exposed to one of the best explanations of today's political and economic world. As a student, I feel that this book should be the staple for anyone studying business, economics, political science, engineering, finance, history, science, etc.The Quest, along with The Prize, is a must read for anyone looking to grasp where we as society have been, where we are, and where we are going.

I'm still looking for a more recent book like this. There's a lot of useful learning-curve information, but you better be technically savvy and already an experienced Linux user. It's not for Newbies unless you come from another similar technology, such as the Windows world, or Networking. Otherwise, there's way too much under the hood you'll have to just take on faith. The book makes it seem easy, but unfortunately, there's some roadblocks with later OS's. You'll need to use older distros to make all these examples work as is.There's also a void where it could explain how to correctly add an app server to the KDC. There's so little info there that I had to resort to Google. I was totally confused between using DNS and Kadmin to manage principles.Anyway, the book helped me a lot, it just wasn't all I needed. Outside research and translations are needed by now.

First I would like to justify my 5 star rating. This book helped me out of a nasty multi-homed host and DNS problem when no other source could. Without this book I would have been troubleshooting this issue for days. I feel the book has paid for itself.However, I wouldn't consider this "The Definitive Guide." It lacks documentation on the krb5.conf configuration file. I found myself referencing the krb5.conf(5) man page for additional info. Also, the documentation that comes with Heimdal is a very good good source for configuration settings.Another deficiency is the GSSAPI coverage. I did have some trouble setting up my GSSAPI aware SSH with Kerberos. I found myself digging through the ssh man pages and doing some trial and error. Chapter 7 discusses Kerberos enabled applications. SSH is covered there, but I felt the GSSAPI aspect was lacking. Although the author mentions that GSSAPI is not specific to any authentication method and is somewhat out of place in a Kerberos book, I feel this is where the author could have went the extra mile and claimed the right to the title "The Definitive Guide." There are many Kerberized applications today not mentioned in Chapter 7. It would be nice to see a second edition that covers them.What this book has that you will not find in any other single source is comprehensive coverage of the history, protocols, and implementation of Kerberos complete with diagrams. From a security standpoint, this will really help you understand what is going on in your network. For example, when setting up my firewall rules and NIDS, I really had a grasp on what traffic was going where and what needed to be blocked/detected.Chapter 6, Security, is very comprehensive and outlines various root compromises, dictionary and brute-force, replay, and man-in-the-middle attacks. It also details the importance of pre-authentication in Kerberos V as well as best practices to protect your key distribution center (KDC).My Kerberos network is a 10 host homogeneous OpenBSD network running the Heimdal Kerberos V version 0.7.2. Although this book covers the older Heimdal 0.6, it was still very relevant. It also covers the MIT 1.3 implementation (MIT is currently at version 1.6.3). Although this book was published in 2003, it is still worth its price brand new in 2008.

Not really the author's fault, the world has changed a lot since this book was written. The first couple chapters are a good run down on the Kerberos protocol & it's various flavors but then it's age starts to show. If you're the kind of person who is compiling your client security from source you probably need to get your hands on documentation that's more up to date. Does not really tell you much about using SRV records, cross realm auth, leveraging it if you're on Active Directory etc. The writing tends to make the technology sound more difficult to understand than it actually is.When it came out this was almost certainly a 5 star book. It's age, not it's content is the problem.

This book is a rather complete technical overview of Kerberos. It starts with a technical overview, which is a big must to be able to configure and debug a Kerberos system. It then jumps to implementation and then ends with integration.The overview is rather short, but was sufficient to help me install successfully a Heimdal system on my BSD network. I would have like more informations on how to integrate Windows Vista and XP to Heimdal, but the book falls short on this.Overall, I strongly recommend this book to anyone who needs to install quickly and maintain a Kerberos system. No quick tutorial would be enough and «Kerberos: The Definitive Guides» makes it as short as can be.

I came away from this book with a better understanding of how Kerbereos works, but with no new information on using or administrating it.

I purchased this book to assist in integrating Linux authentication with Active Directory. It provided about 90% of the information I needed, the rest came from the web. Offers a concise overview of Kerberos, pretty good coverage of interaction with Active Directory, and some great information on inter-realm trusts that was hard to find via Microsoft. All this talk of AD aside, plenty of high quality information here for the Open Source community.
