The best part of this book is when it turns from some great practical wisdom around money management to the big picture - being a part of the joy and generosity of the kingdom of God now, not merely the small kingdom of one’s self.
Paul is a great writer and examines what goes on in our hearts as central to what controls/guides our actions - particularly with money! Well presented! Plan to read/study and recommend this to my wife and grown children.
Another great book by Paul Tripp. I think everyone should read this.
Paul David Tripp has written an excellent book for many of us Christians who too often measure success in monetary terms, losing track of what is really important in life. He reminds us of how often we can fall into ingratitude, neediness, discontent, and envy because our focus is on money rather than God's love and bountiful blessings. His advice is grounded solidly in the Bible, referencing both familiar and less familiar passages.All that said, I found this significantly lacking in graceful acknowledgement of the very real struggles faced by too many in today's economy. Yes, many of us are far better off than our attitudes might demonstrate, but there are many who really are struggling to meet the most basic of needs for their families, who are unable in many areas to find housing they can afford or who have to work two or three jobs just to pay their medical bills. For them, Redeeming Money provides no sympathy, no recognition of the fact that their money problems could be real and not just the result of their "ingratitude, neediness, discontent, or envy." To give a person in this situation a copy of Redeeming Money would only lay on more guilt at not being able to provide for his or her family.For those who who have enough--and more than enough--but are still longing for more, Tripp's message is a good one. For the many who may be grateful for the little they have but are struggling just to make ends meet, this is something that could be damaging to their faith. So share where appropriate but be aware of the limitations.

Around 150 pages, the title may be completed in a few readings and addresses topics such as:1. 8 things we can learn from the fall of Adam and Eve.2. How the Lord's Prayer can help us have an appropriate perspective towards money.3. Ways money can be a blessing and a curse.4. How the love of money (not money itself) is a root of evil.5. The types of lifestyle mentalities that spell trouble for us.6. The problems with making ourselves the center of the universe.7. How having an eternal perspective saves us from the bondage of loving money.8. The many ways God shows His generosity towards us.Very readable and full of practical insights and wisdom, "Redeeming Money" will be an often-used future reference. Good read.
A very good, short but concise perspective from Christian author Paul David Tripp. He uses the principles of the Lord's Prayer, the example of the fall in the Garden of Eden and others to show how money issues are always heart issues.Chapter 6, Treasure Hunters, is maybe the best in the book.Tripp reminds readers about four things that always cause money problems: ingratitude, neediness, discontent, and envy.An easy read but well worthwhile for anyone wanting to tackle money problems.
How you handle your money says a lot about your heart. Paul Tripp explores what Scripture has to say about money and how it fits into a “Gospel Worldview†that centers on God and his glory. His style is blunt without being rude or arrogant, and he provides much needed perspective in our materialistic society. I would have appreciated a little more discussion of situations where circumstances beyond a person’s control (e.g. medical debt) put them in financial difficulties, but overall it was excellent.What this book does not do is offer practical solutions if you have gotten yourself into a “money mess.†This is more of a big-picture book, all about heart attitude, motivation, etc.. I would love to see the author write a follow-up with “now that you have a godly perspective, let’s fix this.â€

Have you deeply examined yourself? This book unveiled many hidden things in my heart to me.
