Guillem March's talent is to die for! I only wish that the book was bigger. I was not the slightest bit disappointed.

I loved this item and I donated it to my college, Virginia Commonwealth University. I hope artist and fellow students alike will use this item for many years to come.

I was a little disappointed with this book. The back synopsis specifically refers to well-known comic properties like Catwoman, but that isn't really what this book is about. There is a grand total of one Catwoman drawing in the entire book, so promoting this artist's book as some kind of DC Comics extravaganza is very misleading.Most of the art seems to come from advertising projects and European comics that I'm not familiar with, that combined with the art style just isn't my thing.

Guillem March is a rising star currently drawing for DC. He has drawn for Spanish Playboy, several Spanish newspapers and Eros comics. His specialty is, of course, cover girls. The female form is his domain. His drawings are erotic and hot without being dirty. He uses creative "camera angles" and has a style that conveys realism and fantasy without becoming too "airbrushed." These girls in many cases look like they could actually exist. Of course, several of them are pure fantasy, but most of the time he holds back the urge to draw the hypersexualized, cartoonish girls that we see all too often at the comic conventions.This book captures several examples of his drawings that play to his strengths: hot girls from cool angles without cartoonish pneumatic looks. There is no narrative - the book is simply an 84 page collection of his drawings, bot published and unpublished. Most are full color, cover quality, or strips; only a few are pencilled preliminary drawings.

Seriously, the cover is the worst image in the book. I was skeptical about ordering this online until I skimmed through it at the local comic shop. It immediately became a must buy. It's a small book at 80 pages but quality over quantity definitely rules. If you collect art books you won't regret adding this to your collection.

On the heels of the hit movie Straight Outta Compton comes this awesome new book, filled with new details, such as Easy-E's hustling days, and Ice Cube's relationship with the Nation of Islam and Jewish Defense League. It's great learning how some of these important relationships were made, succeeded and disintegrated into a financial battle royal. It's impossible in any other profession for young men in their late teens and early twenties to become influential millionaires, this book made me feel like an insider toward understanding the entire process. I now wish this could be used as a blueprint for a Netflix Series.

Original Gangstas is a fun and entertaining read. Westhoff packs a lot of detail into an easy-to-read book that puts you in the center of the action. At the same time, Westhoff is a dispassionate observer who reports without injecting any obvious bias into the longstanding debates, disagreements, and mythology surrounding the events that led to this category of music. His years of interviews and thorough investigation paid off with never before heard details that give context to the foundation and growth of a new music genre and the struggles of the artists (and businesspeople) who made it happen. I found his descriptions of the interviews particularly interesting - the additional detail, while not fundamentally necessary to the story, made me picture myself in his shoes as he sat through countless discussions. I wholeheartedly recommend this book!

Mr. Westhoff's latest installment of hip-hop lore, Ben tackles the behemotic tangled mess that is the origins of rap culture in the West. While the recent film Straight Out of Compton revived intrigue in the mysterious story of NWA and West Coast rap, it did not do complete justice to the truth nor had a concrete foundation of detail. There was much left to be desired. Much of what is known of West Coast hip-hop is left to anecdotal accounts or interviews by those who were in the circle of NWA, Tupac, Eazy-E, Ice Cube, etc. Many of those who pioneered rap culture in the West are not alive today.Mr. Westhoff's incredible research, which took a number of years, digs down deep and gets to the truth and dispels the myths. We learn the nitty gritty details of the personal lives of NWA, Tupac, Eazy-E, Ice-Cube, etc. We discover connections between rap groups that were otherwise unknown. Ben also addresses the social and political turmoil of the time with excellent commentary.There is no other book, nor documentary around currently that is as descriptive and as detailed as this book. There is so much detail that it feels as if you are there with the rap icons themselves. This is what journalism is about, and Mr. Westhoff slams it out of the park. Ben sets an example for how journalism should be done. I don't want to spoil the book, but I wish it were longer! I would not be surprised if someday in the far future this book becomes required reading in a college class for the Studies of Hip-Hop Culture. EVERY FAN OF HIP-HOP MUST HAVE THIS BOOK IN THEIR COLLECTION!

Ben Westhoff's new book is probably the best book yet written about the history of Hip Hop music in Los Angeles. I can't say that I agree with all of Ben's conclusions in the book, but he did a lot of research and is a very good writer. Because Ben is so competent a writer, Original Gangstas will be interesting not just to Hip Hop fans, but also to any fans of History in general. Anyone who is a fan of West Coast Hip Hop, Dr. Dre, Snoop Dogg, N.W.A., Ice Cube, Eazy-E, The D.O.C., 2Pac, Death Row Records, etc., in particular, will really enjoy reading this book. I highly recommend it. It belongs on the shelf of any Hip Hop fan.

As of this writing, this is the absolute best resource you're gonna find when it comes to the details on West coast rap/gangster rap history. There's a lot of conflicting information out there, but the way it is told in this book appears to be the most factual account available. No bias; if there are multiple versions of an incident that the author cannot independently verify, he will give you them all and let you make your own judgement. As close to flawless writing as you'll find on this subject. A must read if you're interested in rap history.

Mr. Westhoff did extensive research, interviewed countless people, and sifted through fact, opinion, and hearsay like the professional journalist that he is.The characters are all portrayed as the very real, very flawed, and very talented individuals they were. While other books and films chose to ignore some of the darker aspects of these individuals' character and story, Mr. Westhoff dives right in and shows both the good and the bad. He is a true fan of the genre and that helps him express just how groundbreaking this music was as he tells the story of the people who made it.If you are interested at all in music, hip-hop culture, race relations, or the tragic drama that ended the young lives of Eazy-E, Tupac, Biggie, and others, this is a must read.

A very thorough, almost academic look at the beginning of gangster rap. I remember as a kid seeing the magazine covers about the rap wars and hearing about the deaths of Tupac and Notorious B.I.G and this is depth covers it all. I highly recommend it!

This series has really taken a turn. The author still tells a good story and the characters are well grounded, I just had a rough time with the changes in the last couple of books. I was attracted to time travel but I don't believe in reincarnation. It's just weirdI would read this author again if it didn't follow this path.

This review is for the Series -- consistently enjoyable reads: Absolutely inspiring -- every book in the series! -- well-developed characters, and wonderful story lines -- all stand-alone novels (though most are more meaningful if read in order) -- and very different kind of read. Earlier, I had read 3 of these books, out of sequence, and loved each one so much that I decided to start with the first and read them in order. While definitely stand-alone reads, there is some cross-over in some of the stories that made the reads much richer. I loved reading them straight through from 1-12. I will read #13 next and any that Ms MacLean adds to the series. This is a very special series, and the stories touched my heart.Great character development, inspiring and intriguing story line, and great editing. A pleasure to read any book by this author.I rated 11 of the 12 I read with 5-stars, and one a 4-star.Update: I grab up each new addition to this series! Never disappointed!

I m not much for contemporary romances. Love regency, midevil, victorian, scottish.This book floored me. I never wanted it to end It was a beautiful story and a combination of comtemporary and victorian unbelievable.I did not mention I was not crazy about time travel either. While this is not a time travel, it does relate in a way.All that to say this is a timeless love story, one that drug me in from the very beginning, I was very satisfied with the ending.I have said it before. I love her other series immensely and while this had no sex besides innuendos it was utterly fulfilling, the story line kept you engrossed and needed no filling out.I recommend this book whole heartedly.Great job as always Ms. Maclean

The Color of Forever (The Color of Heaven Series Book 10)Â by Julianne MacLeanThere are numerous recountings of the plot, so you probably don't need to read another one. Instead I'm going to tell you how i felt as I read the book. Each section felt as though it were a color transparency gently placed upon a light table and, as the book went on, each new transparency was placed upon the previous ones, creating a beautiful montage that, when put together, became something new and beautiful.

Another great story in the series The Color of Heaven. Very enjoyable reads in this series. They are intriguing and so true to life.
