Love Rebecca’s books and Rogue’s story is no exception. This second offering in the London League Series (a spin-off of the author‘s wonderful Arrangements Series) might be my favorite so far. The premise of the series is a bit like The Scarlet Pimpernel — noblemen in disguise as spies, detectives, and protectors of the weak. Implausible? No more so than the beloved Baroness Orczy characters and just as much fun to read.Rebecca’s writing, as always, is by turns witty, delightful, touching, thoughtful, lol funny, romantic, and CLEAN. I haven’t yet been disappointed. Highly recommended!

Rebecca Connolly is a wonderful story teller! I love the passion in her characters, while presenting her work without unnecessary explicit scenes! Thank you for writing good stories that I don’t have to feel guilty about reading or skip over sections!

This is a story of breaking down the walls that bind. Two people thrown together out of necessity find that although they can barely tolerate each other, they have more in common than they think. The hero, Rogue, is a spy, an operative, under the ruse of someone else. He is known for his rudeness and indifference. Amelia, is a very strong willed young woman who harbors deep secrets. She finds out about Rogue's reputation: he can find anyone where others fail. She employs his expertise to find her father who abandoned she and her mother years before.. However, she will not disclose why she wants him found. Rogue is suspicious. Then comes a clash of wills. Amelia rather enjoys provoking the grumpy guy! There are twists and turns. The banter between Amelia and Rogue is humorous, when they are not at each others throat! Unbeknownst to Amelia, he too has secrets! The author's story telling gives the reader a look into a relationship that isn't your traditional kind of romance found in many regency romance novels. I enjoyed her creativity.Although I did not come across distracting errors in editing, the author needs to be careful not to mistakenly use "today's" vernacular for the time period this story is written in. I have come across this common error with other authors who write historical romance novels.Author keeps it clean without fudging on passion and desire. Loved that!! I would say however that some of the "spy" element that Rogue was involved in through out the story involving the danger of such a job , in my opinion, is oversimplified. The h & h are interesting and relatable. The author does a good job of evolving their characters through out the story. Good read!!

I would read this book and this series and the last series related to this one, over and over again. I love how the writer completes the story and yet still has me excited for her next book. I am not dissatisfied at the end. And even though there is some tragic history, the story did not weigh me down with sadness. I love the way this author writes. I think I have read all her books and look forward to each one. I have not been disappointed yet. Keep them coming Rebecca, you have a fan and I recommend your books to others. There is mild swear words and yet she is not a smutty writer. I like and only read clean reads, and proper romance. Thank you for the enjoyable time filler.

After reading the first book in this series, The Lady and the Gent, I have been so excited to read this next one. I’m always worried when reading a sequel, especially if I really liked the first book, as often you want to compare and are let down when it’s not as good.Oh my goodness this book was every bit as good as the first- if not better!! The characterization was phenomenal, the plot was intriguing, the mystery kept me guessing, and the romance was toe-curlingly wonderful.“Rogue” was such a great hero. Brooding, intelligent, gruff, short-tempered, and outwardly callous, he does not come across as quite the Regency hero one would expect. I adored him though, and Amelia complimented him perfectly as the heroine. She is feisty, blunt, resourceful, smart, and brave, and continued to surprise me while reading. There were many secondary characters from the other book as well as new ones that I can’t wait to read more about. I believe the author has plans for at least a third book in the series and I dearly hope she publishes it soon!!!

I am a HUGE fan of Rebecca Connolly's books, and A Rogue About Town has quickly become one of my absolute favorites! After reading The Lady and the Gent, I wasn't totally certain I would enjoy Rogue as of the lead characters-but my opinion changed during his first interaction with Daisy. :)I also enjoyed our new heroine, Amelia, because she gave as good as she got with no apologies. While the hero does end up "saving" the heroine, who he saves her from is a nice twist. Also, I laughed out MANY, MANY times. It was just that good!

What kind of English speaker writes, "...her to whom he had given his heart,"? Subject, object, who cares? Or, should one say "whom cares"? Oh, dear, all these pesky rules. Or, "He was unwittingly surprised, " as he knew he was surprised, then , was he reluctantly surprised, too dim witted to know he knew he was surprised, or...was the book translated from another language by a translator of limited ability? OK.So, having gotten that out of my system, yes, it was a more engaging and believable book than book #1 in the series. At least, though credulity was stretched, this was much more fun -and the "spy" business had rather less focus on it in the story development- more focus on detective investigation of private citizens- so it seemed less silly. The romance aspect was rather nicely done, actually. I'd say don't bother with the first book, go for book #2 .
